Mass House #4 is part of our ongoing exploration of a residential design and construction typology particular to the Canberra climate: hot summers and cold winters with extreme diurnal range.
The brief required a compact single-family residence incorporating energy efficiency and a flexible and delightful living environment.
Interiors are characterised by natural light, extreme practicality in beautiful forms, by classic (and hardwearing) materials. The exterior is logically a little more street wise and speaks to a modernist heritage in finely detailed expressed steel and sustainable characteristics.
